Taking a Flex block on Hip Hop with Mr. Ibson.
Taking personal finance - the best class I ever took.

Talking to everyone in AP Lit and reading books outside my comfort zone.
Global studies my 9th grade year - it made me feel home every morning.
Mrs. Turley’s AP Chemistry class helped me realize the effort you put into something is what you get out of it.
Harwood assemblies that celebrate our community.
The freedom and creativity of the Harwood music program which shaped and hugely impacted my experience at Harwood.
Pottery junior year with Wendy Rand.
Having a mentor like Mr. Sargent during COVID was invaluable - his mentorship and kindness is something I will never forget.
And for more - check out the VPR segments by Harwood seniors for even more humbling and powerful moments from Adam Porterfield, Arianna Clark, Xavier Brookens and Ellie Hammond.
With overwhelming gratitude,

Positive school climate and culture:

| Kudos to HU staff! The conversations you are having with students about planning for life after high school ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! FAFSA completion rates were just released and 13% more students filed FAFSAs in 2023 compared to 2022.
This year 57% of the senior class of 133 students have filed a FAFSA by 5/26/23. Last year, 44% of the senior class of 116 students filed a FAFSA by 5/26/22. MORE families taking the steps to make higher education more affordable is DEFINITELY something worth celebrating. Kudos to all of the staff at HU who contributed to this positive change! |
