Each year the Air Force Association recognizes a Teacher of the Year Program for their exceptional educational abilities and contributions to STEM.

Our methodology for the program consists of meeting and observing the teachers in their teaching environment.

This year the honor went to Harwood's own Susannah Cowden.

The Music Dept. continued end of year traditions by presenting the High School Music Awards Picnic and the Senior Music Showcase last week on Tuesday, June 6.

The High School Music Awards Picnic was held in front of the school with Grill Master Sklar and many of the music department students in attendance.  Great food, Senior Music Plaques and Department awards were presented.

The Annual Senior Music Showcase followed immediately after the Music Awards Picnic and featured ten graduating members of the music department performing a solo or group performance.  Parents, family and friends were all treated to beautiful music as Seniors took the stage for the last time.  Lots of gratitude from everyone involved!

New Para: Clarke Haywood

Clarke Haywood is from Northfield and came to Vermont for his education. He graduated from Norwich University, the Military College of Vermont, majoring in history and education. He received an MA in history also of Norwich.

Clarke entered the education profession in 2012 and has extensive background in public history. He owes his passion for education from Scouting. In his spare time, he is an avid hiker, reader, and landscape painter. He is married to Jessy, his wife.

New English Teacher: Larry Gravelle (he was actually hired a couple months ago, but we never introduced him)

Hello Highlanders!

My name is Larry Gravelle and I'm excited to be joining the high school English department next year.  I live in Moretown with my wife Beth (who teaches at HCLC) and our seven-year-old, Jack. I'm currently teaching at Essex High School, but before moving to Vermont almost two years ago, I taught at Steamboat Springs High School in Steamboat Springs, Colorado for 16 years.  When not in school, I love being out in nature, telemark skiing (slowly), fly-fishing, growing orchids, and working on my encyclopedic knowledge of Seinfeld.  I truly look forward to getting to know everyone at Harwood.

Go black and gold!

45 years of Harwood service!

Thank you Ellen!
