Team -
This time of year - with Thanksgiving forthcoming, the shorter daylight hours and the cool weather descending always leaves me reminiscing and thinking of family and friends far away. These thoughts lead me to reach out, connect and consider that which I am grateful for. This year it includes:
the time and energy you continue to put forth in supporting our students and each other. I have been struck this past week by the patience and care shown again and again.
the packed stands at South Burlington this past Saturday and the beautiful energy of so many community members coming together to support our boy’s soccer team.
the reality that we are again able to be in classrooms together and the joy that comes with observing learning.
In ongoing partnership,
Meg

| November Belonging Calendar: Please take a look at this month's calendar of events! If, in the future, you want to submit a suggestion to add to the calendar, please email Melody mfrank@huusd.org. The Collective will review and add. The Belonging Calendar is student-focused so events and activities on the calendar are related to our student body! We are looking for your requests for December and January Calendars.
IMPORTANT: November 21st, ELO with your TA: DESSA Self-Report for Students. The Student Support Collective will be sending out a script by November 15th, and include procedures to support students in completing these and understanding why it is important and how the data will be used to support them. Office Hours: Nov. 21st, Student Support leaders will be in the library to answer questions about the script, be available to practice, and answer any questions you may have
Restorative Referral Process: What you can expect Referral – > Communication from RPC to Staff Member within 24hrs of receipt of referral - acknowledging receipt and sharing process → 5-7 days to meet individually with those involved (depending on availability/absences) → Full circle: based on an agreed upon date to complete circle with all involved → Follow up check-in 1 month later - collective checkin with all involved (If there is a delay in the process, RPC will email updates and a tentative timeline for next steps.)
ISS Reminders: Teachers, please remember to sign up for 20 minute blocks if a student in your class is scheduled for an ISS (In-School Day of Support). Students make mistakes, and we want to build a supportive community and sense of connection to help them move forward and continue on the path to success. Thank you for the collaborative efforts to support our students.
Detention Update: We continue to hold detentions Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:40pm for behaviors, class cuts, and accrued tardies for 7th-12th graders. Tardies include TA as well as all classes and ELOs. We sign up 15 students per day. Thank you to Jesse Carst and Kayla Ball for supervising and leading these afternoon times with students.
Student Services FEEDBACK FORM: 8 weeks in, how are we going and what ways can we improve to support YOU!

| Gratitude Month Continues!
Here’s a thought provoking quote to consider: “In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.” —Albert Schweitzer
Next week School Counseling has organized a second College and Training fair. Grades 10-12 will be attending. Each grade has a strategy to prepare. See your grade’s slideshow for the resources.
