Remember.. Sometimes the helpers need helpers as well..
HU Team;
We are committed to transparency - and we recognize that given the changing reality clarity is a moving target. To this end if you have not yet read Superintendent Nease’s most recent letter What Is Really Behind the HUUSD Reopening Plan? It’s Time to Speak Out - we encourage you to do so.
To continue this example of open communication here is the current who, what and how of our Return to Learn planning. Our Building Based Return to Learn Team is meeting weekly and has 3 sub teams - please see details of what and who below.
RTL Sub Committees:
As we all know creating a new schedule in the 11th hour is quite an undertaking. With this in mind there is much logistical work happening by Sally, Erin and Lisa along with a powerschool consultant in order to ensure our readiness.
That said, in order to ensure our schedule reflects the perspective and needs of our community - the RtL Teaching and Learning Team will provide feedback and support. In addition to the above our Department Heads are meeting with us again this week for a second week in a row in order to support us in considering:
*next steps with our schedule to share with Building based RtL team and continue to elicit feedback
*inservice recommendations in order to start building out the schedule for August
We also have a 9th grade transition team starting some StartSmart work in addition to some forthcoming work to Revisioning TA to ensure SEL. The Middle School 7th grade transition team will connect early in August to develop their plan based on our
Our readiness for our Return to Learn is being driven by:
*The need to ensure all students grades 7 - 12 are on track to meet their learning expectations and graduation requirements.
*The safety and wellness of our entire community
*The need to ensure that given the changing reality we are prepared and planned to pivot as needed.
Finally, and very importantly we want to acknowledge the ongoing anxiety, stress and general unease we are all working to manage both professionally and personally during this time. To this end we appreciated Dave Melnick’s words from Reestablishing the School as Community “our success largely depends on the network of supports we have; the more support we have, the more interconnected we are, the more resilient we become.” With that in mind our priority must continue to be to care for each other as we charter this ever changing reality.
In gratitude and in partnership,
Meg, Laurie and Duane
