HUMS staff week of May 6, 2019

2. HUMS meeting
Agenda will be ready by Tuesday afternoon. Please send me items to discuss Included are:
SBAC review, fun night or not to fun night, 8th-grade dinner dance. spirit week activity, transition night (May 13th), Transition meetings, end of the year party etc..

3. I will be in classrooms for the next two to three weeks completing my observations for the year.
It has been a bit challenging to complete them on my original timeline. The office may not have an individual to accept students. Please contact the office for assistance.

I don't have specific agendas for each day yet, but the days will run from 8:30 - 3:30 with an hour for lunch.

Course Details In this interactive and engaging four-day course, you'll learn how to design and implement a middle school experience that's responsive to the developmental strengths and needs of young adolescents—while helping your students develop the academic and social skills they need to be successful. Topics will include:
• Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive community with the Responsive Classroom approach to discipline
• Holding Responsive Advisory Meetings—a core practice for middle school
• Using teacher language to encourage student engagement and help them become more responsible
and respectful
• Applying new strategies for effective classroom management
• And so much more
Resources to be handed out: Entry plan (electronic); one Responsive Classroom Middle School Essential Bundle; 30 copies each of Building an Academic Community and Yardsticks; a Consultant Observation and Feedback Visit (including access to the Kaleidoscope tool and one Quick Coaching Guide set of 30).
