1. Let me know how I am doing. Three times during the school year I will ask the staff that I work with how I am doing. The only way to improve is to know how things are going and what needs to stop, start or continue. Please take a minute to fill out this quick survey (four questions) so help me help you in ways that are meaningful. Thanks! https://goo.gl/forms/ThFW8w1uVIJ4OMjn2
2. TA meeting this week. Our TA meeting will focus on important items (corn hole board competition, conferences and Responsive Classroom ideas, thoughts. I cannot attend as I have a meeting with the admin team. I will work with Sarah and Elizabeth in anyway I can to help plan the meeting.
3. Conferences- This Thursday, and Next Wednesday we have planned conferences. I sent the following to parents via the blog on Friday - I will send this again on Wednesday this week. I will work on having some snacks/drinks in my office for those of you who need somewhere to take a break. I am hoping to act as the official greeter/8th grade parent/volunteer signer for Ellis Island near the school's entrance. If you need me in a team area during the evening just let me know. I will take a few fly bys to see how things are going.
Harwood Middle School will host our first evening of
conferences this coming week beginning Thursday evening from 3:00 - 7:00pm
Please note:
Our HUMS student led conferences will be hosted within your child's perspective grade level teams this year as opposed to their TA's (as we have done in the past).
Our conferences will follow a "Arena" style format where students will act as the host/guide for their learning, while core teachers will be available to assist with questions or assistance with understanding their presentation. Conferences will occur within a shared space large enough to accommodate 2 - 6 student meetings at once. If parents/guardians require a specific teacher meeting, we will have the opportunity to indicate this within the team area. We look forward to seeing you next week. Questions regarding scheduling should be referred to Liz Hepp at 882 -1127 or lhepp@wwsu.org.
4. Our November 20th meeting will be our next Middle School Staff meeting. I will have an agenda for ready for this meeting.
Items: Responsive Classroom,- Looping/multi teams for next year or not.. (Survey to be sent next Sunday about this) - meetings - assemblies - ELO - Proficiencies - I know there is more - just let me know.
5. I am working with Lisa T on reviewing how our students are progressing with the year according to their Jump Rope progress reports. I am taking some time to comb through summative assessment scores. I am newcomer to this work, I may have some questions or need some help with clarifying how things are done. Thanks in advance for your help with this.
