At our initial meetings Duane will bring MAP scores, SBAC previous year scores for review.  The information will be placed within a google doc file for your reference.  

3.  Please note that progress reports will be sent our every two weeks from the guidance office.  The next day they will be sent is October 15.   Course syllabi are not yet posted on the website for review by families.  I appreciate that everyone has placed the middle school syllabi on google classroom.  Thanks for doing this. 

4.  I am exploring ideas regarding lunch/recess supervision/ratio changes and would like your feedback.  

I have noticed that both lunch and recess are high energy, high movement and high noise times during our day.  There have been days when we have had only one person on duty for either lunch or recess or both, which is less than ideal and concerning to me.  In order to increase supervision and reduce risk I would like to explore the idea that 7th and 8th grade lunch and recess are separate.  Here is one possibility,  this is only an draft proposal: 

 lunch/recess with proposed supervision 

Ration 1/30 students (more in line with VSBIT standards, but less than optimal - VSBIT recommends 1/15 ratio for students up to 8th grade for both) CBMS has approx 4 - 6 adults for both lunch and recess for the almost the exact number of students.   

7th grade lunch -  11:55 -   12:15  Duane/Mari

8th grade recess - 11:55 -   12:15  Michael//Hilary  

7th grade recess - 12:15 -   12:35  Michael/Hillary 

8th grade lunch -  12:15 -   12:35  Duane/Mari 

It reduces the number for both recess coverage and lunch coverage, increases supervision ratios and perhaps lessen the three concerning issues noted above.  I would need to explore supervision ratios of 2 adults per activity (lunch and recess) with the admin team.
