HUMS Staff Week of Sept 10, 2018

Hello all,

It's  hard to believe that 18 years ago we experienced a moment that defined a generation of experiences, attitudes, and beliefs about who we are as a nation and more importantly our connection to the broader interconnected world.  As time fades we are less likely to be affected by these experiences, similar to those that have a hard time remembering Pearl Harbor or the death of Martin Luther King.

As such, moments and some feelings are fleeting and last only as long as some of our memories allow.   Those who teach children have such a weighty responsibility to carry on these connections for future generations to learn from .

As we remember and honor those moments let us not forget the experiences that last longer than a moment for the families and kids we learn with each day.   Some of our families and kids are challenged every day with the tough choices, tough situations, and chaos that defines their minute by minute moments that define their day to day experiences.   Teachers have the privilege and awesome power to touch the moments of our kids that make a difference.   As we honor the larger moments in history, I would like to thank you for all of the exceptional work that each of you daily to make the world a bit better than it was yesterday.  I feel very lucky to work with such excellent people.
