What is it? Could it be the blog.....
As many of you may or may not know, I have used a staff blog over the past 4 years at the Moretown School as a way to improve communication regarding the tremendous amount of "----" that occurs throughout the year. The blog may be helpful in locating important information/links/calendars.. etc, all under one umbella that is updated weekly. From the feedback I received from the Moretown Staff, it worked well. I hope this system works here for you - if not, please let me know. I will ask three times during the school for feedback on how things are going from your perspective - let me know then. Although this first post is a bit wordy, you will find that I am not a wordy person.
The blog is a information tool. Updated weekly on Sunday evenings, it is an powerful way to keep everyone together and create a way for ease of access for important information. Please note I am not asking you to take time away from your weekend to view the Sunday post - but know that the blog is there and can be accessed throughout the week. Occasionally I will update the blog during the week - I will let you know when this happens.
A couple of items:
The Blog can be followed by placing your preferred email to the right of the main body in the "follow by email" link. This way you will get updates/reminders via your email.
The Blog Link Cloud will host various links to important information, calendars, links..etc, that you may need throughout the year. I feel this is probably the most helpful in terms of keeping things together and easy to find. For instance, I have linked the 8th grade schedule and folder for access at the top. Please note there is a link titled Duane. This is more or less a portal to my admin files, links etc that I will use throughout the year. I will change the name over the next week or two - I am just cleaning it out/organizing it for use this year.
From time to time I will view emails who access the blog and make sure it is secured for staff use only. I typically wil not post things that pertains to specific student situations etc on the blog for privacy issues.

ITEMS:
1. Recent (716/17) 8th grade meeting notes have been listed in the blog link cloud. I continue to work through the "to dos I received from the meeting. Please see the document regarding this.
2. UPDATE FOR 18-19 school year. Please note that I have turned off the "google chat" feature for all grade 7 and 8 students. Thank you Taggert for your time!
3. 7th grade team meeting is scheduled for 7/31/18. I look forward to meeting and working your team!
4. Reminder: Middle School Meeting - August 17th, Friday. Agenda for the day will developed and sent out prior to the day. Lunch will be provided.
5. Middle School website and Blog. I am meeting with Curtis on July 25 to update, clean out and understand the website. Once the powerschool update has been completed, I will be able to send out our first Middle School Blog to all of our families this summer. I will be working on this next week and have appreciated all of the pictures/information you sent. School Family blogs will be sent home on Fridays - I will most likely post our first one on August 3rd.
